Президентът на Международния олимпийски комитет (МОК) Томас Бах потвърди, че Лос Анджелис, Хамбург, Париж, Рим и Будапеща са петте града, които са подали кандидатури за игрите през 2024 г. Олимпиада 2024.
Тъй като и петте града отдавна бяха обявили своите намерения да участват в надпреварата, изненади в последния час нямаше. Срокът за подаване на официалните заявки беше полунощ.
Френската столица Париж ще се опита да спечели точно 100 години след последното домакинство на олимпиадата през 1924 г. Рим е приемал игрите през 1960 г.
Ако Лос Анджелис спечели надпреварата, ще се превърне в първия град с три домакинства след 1932 и 1984 г. Хамбург се надява да е първият германски домакин след Мюнхен през 1972 г. Будапеща е ранният аутсайдер в процедурата.
„МОК приветства пет изключителни града. Доволни сме да видим, че всички пет вече са възприели нашият План 2020. Очакваме вълнуваща и честна надпревара“, заяви Томас Бах.
МОК също така потвърди, че победителят ще получи 1.7 милиарда долара в пари и услуги.
