На 15 август Църквата чества Успение на Пресвета Богородица, един от 12-те големи християнски празници. Според народната традиция празникът се нарича Голяма Богородица.
На Голяма Богородица, след тържествена литургия в църквата се освещават обредни хлябове, които жените след това раздават за здраве и за починалите близки.На този ден се правят родови срещи, прави се и курбан – за живот, за здраве, за плодородна година, против премеждия и болести. Традиционни ястия на трапезата са прясна питка, пиле каша, варено жито, царевица и тиква. Непременно се ядат диня и грозде.
Имен ден празнуват: Мара, Мария, Марийка, Мари, Марин, Мариян, Марияна, Мариана, Мариан, Маша, Мика, Мира, Мариета, Мариела, Марио, Преслав и Преслава.
